On May 30, 2012, Google announced the roll out of Google+ Local. This new socially integrated product replaces Google Places. Google+ Local is accessible from your Google+ profile by clicking the “Local” icon on the left-hand side of the page. There’s much speculation about the change – the implications for local businesses, SEO, etc. Google says the move is to create a “simple way to discover and share local information featuring +ZAGAT scores and recommendations from people you trust in Google+.”
Unlike Google Places pages, Google+ Local pages ARE indexed in the organic search results, so businesses interested in improving their organic search visibility should learn as much as they can about this change!
